Sažetak
In this paper measurement and effects of differential skew within symmetrical transmission lines are discussed. Different measurement methods are described and compared using either symmetrical pulses of a fixed frequency and shape, symmetrical sine waves swept over a wide spectrum of single ended sine waves. The physical mechanisms such as effects of resistance unbalance and capacitance earth unbalance and dependence of skew on transmission line length are examined. The relationship between longitudinal conversion transmission loss (LCTL) and skew is described and a simple model is presented and tested. Finally, the effect of skew on eye patterns is discussed.
