Sažetak
The structure of meiofauna communities was studied at five littoral sampling stations along the Drava (11.0-77.0 km upstream) between November 1997 and April 1998. A total of 11 groups of meiofauna was recorded: Nematoda, Oligochatea, Rotatoria, Gastrotricha, Insecta larvae, Tardigrada, Cladocera, Copepoda (including nauplii), Acari, Ostracoda, and juvenile stages of Bivalvia. In this investigation, interstitial sediment meiofauna communities were shown to be related to the sediment granulometric composition. The highest meiofauna density average (186.3 ind./dm2) was recorded in the silt-sandy sediment (53.7-77.9% silt) at the Pampas station. The smallest density average (68.0 ind./10dm2) was recorded in hte sandy sediment with a low amount of silt (<5%) at the Nemetin station.
