Sažetak
With this work we are trying to answer the following questions - how and in what measure does the technology influence knitwear design and fashion today, and in what measure do design and fashion influence technology. The method of questionnaire has been chosen, as a method for testing opinions of contemporary participants in the relation between design and technology. Questionnaire did fulfil 28 knitwear designers, 22 technologists and 25 engineers who work on development of knitting machines. Due to the number of responses we must say that first of all results represent the illustration of the way of thinking and not the basis for generalization of population. The following techniques of descriptive statistics have been used to analyse the questionnaire variables: frequency tables and calculation of basic numerical indicators (arithmetic mean, variance and standard deviation). From this analysis we could conclude that technology affirmatively influences design, in a bigger measure it gives new ideas and enables the quality design, and in a smaller measure it distorts and simplifies design. Choice of yarn, the possibilities of knitting machines and the technologists skills greatly influence the design of knitwear, even more than designers own skills. Different economic factors mostly influence the development of machines, then technological, while influence connected with design is relatively worse ranged, i.e. it is at least taken into consideration when developing a knitting machine.
