Sažetak
In the framework of the earlier performed initial characterization of groundwater bodies in Croatia, about 500 groundwater bodies were idenitified. Aquifer type is defined on the basis of a significant groundwater flow and significant quantities of groundwater (primary aquifer, secondary aquifer, unproductive aquifer). Four categories of groundwater bodies at risk are separated: groundwater body of significant risk, groundwater body of probably significant risk, but more informations are necessary for the verification, groundwater body with probably no significant risk, but more informations are necessary for the verification and groundwater body with no significant risk. The main challenges in the next steps are: aggregation of groundwater bodies together within 4 river basins, collecting detailed informations on the locations, type and magnitude of the significant anthropogenic pressures, assessing groundwater chemical status of the bodies (threshold value, background level, baseline level), risk assessment of the group groundwater bodies and establishing monitoring network for groundwater quantity and quality with the requirements of the WFD.
