Sažetak
The paper presents a description of the current status of the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive in Croatia. A special attention is paid to defining locations, boundaries and properties of groundwater bodies, which has resulted in the determination of major aquifers of different hydraulic and hydrogeochemical properties. The groundwater bodies at risk in Croatia was preliminarily determined on the basis of the general character of the aquifers and the overlying deposits, the pressures to which groundwater body are liable to be subject and the existing groundwater quality data.
