Sažetak
The metallic materials, which are used as construction and ambalage materials, are exposed to corrosion causing container corrosion problems followed by indirect effects on human health as well as pronounced economic losses.
Inhibition of the acid corrosion of iron can be achieved by the use of various organic compounds, among which the nitrogen-containing substances constitue the bulk of actual acid inhibitors.
The aim of this investigation was to determine the inhibiting efficiency of two pyridinium salts (ZS-4 and TMB-4) by electrochemicay methods (potenciostatic polarization, Tafel extrapolation, and determination of polarization resistance) as well as by gravimetric method (measurements of weight loss).
The corrosion studies were done for iron acidic medium (0.5M H_2SO_4 and 1M HCl, respectively) in the presence of the above cited inhibitors at various inhibitor concentrations after different exposure time.
The electrochemical results indicate that these inhibitors suppress the cathodic processes, but there exist no regularities in action in connection with inhibitor concentrations used.
