Sažetak
The processes of globalization have already been ruling the world in a number of ways, and have already conclusively determined the structure of the new epoch, which is why Minerva’ s owl must not stand still. Multi-dimensionality of globalization, however, points to the need an interdisciplinary analysis of it, as well as a philosophical reflection. The structuration of globalization, besides the philosophy of liberalism, includes also: the spread of rationalism and scientism as a dominant knowledge framework, development of capitalism, technological innovations in communications and data processing, and bureaucratic regulations of production and social life on the supraterritorial level. On the other hand, globalization has caused the growth of confessionally based supraterritorial communities. This religious resurgence has a revivalist character that challenges the prevailing rationalist knowledge structure in the age of globalization. Accelerated globalization has given stimulus to supraterritorial religious bonding, particularly such universalistic religions, as Christianity and Islam. At the same time the contemporary rise of collective identities rooted in religion has often also been in part a defensive response to globalization. Thus religious revitalization has frequently shaped into a kind of nonterritorial cultural protectionism.
