Sažetak
This paper describes a relatively new approach to ATM networks design. The procedure combines algorithmic and simulation methods in order to determine optimum topology of the network, calculate necessary capacities, check network performance under dynamic traffic load and produce the final network layout. This all is carefully combined with protection methods in order to satisfy network survivability demands. Design procedure results not only in network configuration but also in set of algorithms and parameters that optimize network utilization and performance
