Sažetak
The concept of transactions is widely used not just for building mission-critical database applications, but is also useful in the development of robust and reliable software. Recently, the distributed object technology has been recognized as an effective distributed programming paradigm with the ability to support networked heterogeneous computing. The convergence of those two technologies resulted in the distributed object programming environment with the support of transaction service. The Object Transaction Service (OTS) is a part of CORBAservices specification that provides transaction processing facilities on top of Object Request Broker technology. This paper discusses the development of transactional application with database access in distributed CORBA environment and compares different methods of database connection management. The models of bank application were developed and different methods of data access were evaluated. Transactional operations were performed on objects accessing one or more distributed database resources.
