Sažetak
Most textiles consist of combustible fibers and they are arranged so, that combustion is facilitated. So it is very important to find a right treatment for obtaining the flame protection properties. Cotton and other cellulose textiles are the most flammable materials and the most commonly used in the design and production of protective clothing due to their usefulness. Although, for most thermal protective applications, textiles comprising 100% synthetic and high thermoplastic fibers must be avoid. They can be used only in one case: if they are a part of a composite structure in which they are presented as a component with a majority flame retardant fibers. Narrow fabrics are an indispensable part of the technical textile sector. In addition to traditional applications in clothing industry, household textiles, sport and leisure sectors, they are being used increasingly in industrial applications, such as automotive, aerospace, marine, military industries, also in electronics, medicine, environment, furniture sectors and etc. This thesis is an attempt to find a right solution for some industrial problem, concerning the bath adsorption of narrow fabrics. For this purpose, the narrow fabrics from cotton, polyester and polypropylene produced by Croatian company Pozamanterija MTČ, have been used. Our goal: by using warm padding bath (T = 50 C) to research the best flame retardancy results (after flame time lower than 5 s) of narrow fabrics. The above mention conditions have been required from the company. These fabrics were treated with commercial alkyl phosphonate derivate for achieving good flame retardancy and wet fastness based on researched fabric absorbency. Flame retardancy was tested according to ISO standards. The most important phase of any wet finishing process is good bath adsorption what in the case of high density textiles is not easy to reach. In this paper the burning behavior of heavy fabrics produced from natural and synthetic fibers for technical application it was improved by application of traditional flame retardant finishing agents with or without natural zeolite in the bath. This master thesis reached very high flame retardancy results. Additionally, it was discussed about cellulose decomposition in the burning process.
