Sažetak
Communication skills are basic skills in the practice of social work. They are „ tools“ which social worker uses in his/her interaction with clients to realize professional goals. Therefore it is important for social workers to understand the communication, its structure and rules, patterns and different ways of communications with clients. Teaching communication skills should be a part of social work educational curriculum so they can use clear and correct communication. The aim of this study is to analyze different approaches to education of communication skills for social workers in Europe and USA. This research shows what kind of curriculum description is available for students at the university internet pages, what is important for the mobility of students in the sight of Bolonia process. Content analysis of courses for undergraduate education of social workers in the field of communication and communication skills is conducted. Analyzed courses are part of curriculum published on universities internet pages. Universities are members of International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), 15 from Europe and 24 from SAD. Only the courses with its content description in English are included. The content of courses are very rarely published in complete volume (9). More frequently they are described in a few sentences (30). Analysis shows the richness of the content in the field of communication. Communication skills are more often part of some other course, rarely they are independent ones, what is going to be discussed concerning the role of communication skills in the social work education.
