Sažetak
Background and purpose: Phytosociological and ecological investigations were carried out on permanent plot 81, which is a part of the project entitled A Hundred Permanent Plots of the Republic of Croatia during three consecutive years.
Material and Methods: Phytosociological investigations were performed by the Braun-Blanquet method. In the third year of research fire broke out at the plot, and its influence was also included in the research. The changes in cover-abundance of plant species were tested by Friedman ANOVA and correspondence analysis (CA) technique. Properties such as: pH, CEC, phosphorus, CaCO3 and nitrogen mineralisation were also analysed by incubation methods. Temporal changes of soil properties were analysed by a number of statistical techiques.
Results: Vegetation on permanent plot 81 belongs to the Molinio-Lathyretum pannonici Horvatić 1963 association. The fire on the plot did not affect species cover nor the composition to a significant extent. The soil moisture varied in wide range 26.7-101.2 %. The mineral nitrogen supply was established at 51 kg N/ha.
Conclusions: Vegetation on permanent plot 81 belongs to the Molinio-Lathyretum pannonici association whose distribution is restricted to intermittently moist soils on carst fields in Croatia. The presence and high abundance of plant species indicators of intermittently moist soils and geophytes especially endemic Illyrian species Scilla litardierei is significantly present on the plot. Fire has lesser impact on grassland vegetation than on low-shrub vegetation which was investigated on permanent plot 84 in the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The mineral nitrogen supply of Molinio-Lathyretum pannonici on plot 81 was considerably higher in comparison with the similar vegetation types in Central Europe.
