Sažetak
Understanding of queue response to input spectrum will provide us a great deal of knowledge to develop advanced network traffic control and measure theories and to introduce effective network resource allocation policies. The resource allocation, particularly link capacity allocation, is one of the most challenging tasks in modern high-speed networks. The older scheme based on the link capacity allocation according to the peak cell rate is not efficient. There are new methods based on the frequency spectrum of the input traffic signal. The low-pass filtering of the traffic signal represents the crucial moment in the whole method. So, the choice of the accurate and fast filtering method is of a great importance. There are proposals [2, 6] to implement the dynamic link capacity allocation in DSP integrated circuits in the network nodes. Accordingly, all DSP algorithms for traffic control must be extremely fast and efficient. In this paper, we have presented a great importance of a DFT and FFT for simulation and some real-time applications in ATM network control. PDF convolution method that can be used for the estimation of cell loss, and further to estimation of necessary link capacity and buffer space, is based on FFT, too. Of course, the novel approach depends on the penetration of digital signal processing technology in ATM networking hardware.
