Sažetak
Roman Cibalae, or today’ s Vinkovci, are situated in the eastern part of Croatia. During the Roman period the area belonged to the south eastern part of the Province of Pannonia. Museum Vinkovci acquired almost 2000 fragments of terra sigillata. Little over 30% of that quantity is relief ornamented sigillata, in number, 544 pieces, rest of it is undecorated sigillata, analysis of which is still in process. Of total of 544 relief ornamented fragments, for 46 of them (or 8%), it is not possible to determine origin. Majority of fragments – 62, 85% or 313 pieces, can be associated with the production of Rheinzabern manufactures. Little over 15% of finds/findings we can correlate with production in Central Gaul, 15% of fragments of Westerndorf and Pfaffenhofen production, 5, 6% of local Pannonian and Moesian origin. The main task of my work is to find answers concerning import of sigillata to Cibalae. Westerndorf sigillata seemed like the most appropriate material to start with. It was distributed within a short period of time and had simple structure of production, meaning that there were only three workshops active there. Out of 73 of identified relief decorated pieces from Westerndorf, 34 fragments and completely preserved bowl were produced in manufacture of Comitialis, 28 in Manufacture of Helenius and 4 in workshop of Onniorix. Out of 34 fragments of Comitialis, for 6 pieces (8%) the determination was impossible. 8 of found pieces are produced directly by Comitialis himself, or they do not have any of the characteristic stamps of tenant artisans. 8 of them are done by Decminus, 6 by Erotus and 2 by Lupus. D. Gabler concludes that Westerndorf sigillata was not evenly distributed, but that there are certain differences between regions on which this products were exported. Gabler concluded that in the area of Noricum among Westerndorf material dominates products of Comitialis. At sites in western Pannonia products of Comitialis and of Helenius are evenly represented. While in the eastern Pannonia and Barbaricum dominates the production of Helenius over Comitialis. The divison to these three areas of export also can be applied to the distribution of Onniorix, in Western Pannonia these products are rear, while in eastern Pannonia are found in larger quantities (10-12%). In Cibalae workshop Onniorix is represented with only 4 peaces (3% of overall Westerndorf material), what is not typical for the rest of eastern Pannonia. Proportion of products of Comitialis and of Helenius is 34 to 28 in advantage of Comitialis. These proportions of Westerndorf sigillata in Cibalae are not typical for current results for rest of Pannonia, but are similar to the results that Lj. Bjelajac got for Upper Moesia. Bjelajac analysed sigillata mostly from the cities of Singidunum and Viminiacium, where the proportions were 104:85 in favour of Comitialis. Very low percentage of Onniorix products is also distinctive for Upper Moesia as for Cibalae. Based on these results, however, in the phase of speculation, the possibility for existence of fourth area of distribution of Westerndorf products occurs. That area would include Upper Moesia and SE Pannonia. That also corresponds with thesis the was presented by Rutkowski which predicts existence of distribution center in Singidunum, from where the merchandise was transported upstream to Siscia and Cibalae, downstream Danube to Viminiacium, or across the river to Barbaricum.
