Sažetak
Medvednica Nature Park was chosen as a pilot area for adopting recently proposed standard for mapping of Croatian flora. Using the 1/64 MTB grid, complete area of Nature Park was divided into 135 grid cells as a basic spatial unit for collecting floristic data that were collected in the field from 1997 to 1999. All floristic data were registered in CROFlora database and GIS of surveyed area. Based on endangered level according to Index Florae Croaticae, rare, endangered and vulnerable plant species were selected. For those selected species new GIS layer with information about simultaneous occurrence in each 1/64 MTB was formed. This data were analysed with cluster analyses to identify areas with different composition of selected species and form a new polygon layer. Those two layers were spatially overlapped with layer of plant diversity expressed as a number of plant species per 1/64 MTB grid cell that was previously reclassified. Taking into account results of cluster analyses, areas with highest total plant diversity were identified and overlaid with digitised vegetation map to check whether are all present vegetation communities covered with selected areas, using the vegetation communities as an indicator of difference in floristic composition. Finally, thematic layer of areas that best represents plant diversity of Nature Park was compared with existing special reserves in the Nature Park, to determine additional areas that might be important for preservation of total plant diversity in the Nature Park Medvednica.
