Sažetak
Nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) is a common condition in men. It is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis approximatelly in 1/3 of cases of NGU. So, in majority of cases the clinical syndrome is referred to as nonchlamydial nongonococcal urethritis (NCNGU). Some members of the family Mycoplasmatacae are thought to be associated with genitourinary infections. These are: Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma parvum, Mycoplasma genitalium and Mycoplasma hominis. Among these four species, only Mycoplasma genitalium was significantly more frequent in men with NGU or chlamydia negative NGU than in asymptomatic controls. However, in significant percent of urethritis the causative agent couldn’ n be find. Previous studies were limited to selective searches for one or more traditional pathogens, mainly used culture based techniques. This approach have probably prohibited the discovery of novel uropathogens. Introducing of molecular techniques have suggested that the number of pathogenic microorganisms that have been cultured to date probably equals only a fraction of the total. In women Mycoplasma genitalium has been associated with cervicitis, endometritis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease and tubal factor infertility. Mycoplasma hominis has been associated with bacterial vaginosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, postpartum fever, postabortal fever, as well as a number of gynecologic infections.
