Sažetak
High number of traffic accidents in road transport resulted, besides the loss of the human lives, also with increased financial costs charged on drivers, local and national budget. In European countries, as well as in Croatia, one of the biggest traffic problems is frequent traffic congestions caused by traffic accident investigations. This is especially emphasized in city centers, where car crashes with minor material costs can cause huge traffic jams. By introducing a telecommunication technology and implementation of intelligent transport system (ITS) in the process of reporting an accident event, the investigation phases would be prepared with more quality, whereby the duration of investigation would be reduced. Better correlation among competent authorities would make a significantly impact on duration of accidents' investigations and their quality. The direct consequences would be shorter traffic congestions, caused by traffic accidents, whereby significant financial resources of road traffic customers would be saved. In this work the advantages and opportunities of managing incidental situations, using intelligent transport systems are presented and action phases of competent authorities after traffic accident annunciation systemically are elaborated.
