Sažetak
The paper deals with the heterogeneity of hydrologic and hydrogeologic parameters in karst vadose zone. The vadose zone, or the water unsatured zone, or aerated zone in karst is generally very deep. Its depth can be of tens or hundreds of meters. It is area of continuous and quick groundwater level oscillations. The water circulation in it is primarily influenced by the development of the karstification processes in time and space. The key to understanding and predicting groundwater flow through karst vadose zone and karst aquifer is an ability to accurately define the features and locations of the heterogeneities and their hydrologic and hydrogeologic parameters. Definition of these parameters using the measurements of groundwater level in piezometers and discharges of karst springs is stressed as particularly useful. The hydraulic conductivity, K, is a key multidisciplinary parameter for understanding and modelling of groundwater circulation in karst. The example of definition of K for the Ombla karst spring catchment is given. The karst aquifer is a dynamic space in which inclinations and flow directions change rapidly depending of groundwater level in some of its parts. Correlation analyses of groundwater levels continuously measured in a few piezometers proved of more uniform aquifer behaviour during the descending than during the rising of the outflow karst spring hydrograph.
