Sažetak
Adequate early object relations enable the adult person to deal confidently with the world and to overcome separation and loss with less than usual difficulty. Similarly, adequate early object relations function to reduce the disordering impact of traumatic experience. This is the clinical impression derived from work with a number of persons who developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a reaction to war trauma. The conclusion is based on analysis of early object relations among the group of people with PTSD, against those of a control group comprising returnees from the battlefield with similar traumatic experience but who had not asked for psychological help.
