Sažetak
Following our interest in the study of palladium(II) complexes with alkyl esters of various aminophosphonic acids, especially of those derived from aniline and quinoline which might be of interest as anticancer agents, the synthesis and characterization of new five-membered [N, O] metallocyclic complexes of palladium(II) with monoethyl and monobutyl ester of anilino-N-benzylphosphonic acid, have been reported. In basic media the phosphonate acid group is deprotonated and, thus, the reaction of sodium salts of monoalkyl phosphonates with PdCl_4^2- gives binuclear chelate complexes Pd_2L_4, with coordinated ligand through the aniline nitrogen and the phosphonic acid oxygen. Spectroscopic (IR, NMR, UV/VIS, FAB-mass) and thermal (TG, DTA) studies have been applied to determine structural and decomposition properties of these compounds. In the course of these investigations, the results obtained are compared with those obtained for [N, O] chelate complexes of some monoalkyl quinolylmethylphosphonates and benzeneazoanilinophosphonates, and are discussed with respect to their structure-stability and structure-activity relationships.
