Sažetak
This paper deals with mechanisms of idiom modification in both English and Bosnian. It is argued that idiomatic expressions are modifiable, and their modifications can be explained using the postulates of the conceptual integration theory, proposed by Fauconnier and Turner (1998, 2002). Constraints of modification mechanisms can be explained using vital relations and optimality principles that define relations within conceptual integration networks.
