Sažetak
The most common shoulder sports injuries include dislocation of the glenohumeral and acromioclavicular (AC) joints, rotator cuff tears and biceps lesions. Glenohumeral dislocation and AC joint injuries are more common in contacts sports, while rotator cuff and biceps injuries are common in overhead athletes. It is usually difficult to recognize the severity of a shoulder sports injury. Early assessment is essential for appropriate treatment. Mechanism of injury is important to understand type of lesion. After history of injury has been taken, one can focus on the specific clinical examination. We strongly recommend ultrasound examination of the shoulder. In few minutes one can find correct diagnosis for most shoulder injuries. Of course, you need standard x-rays and often specific x-rays view. MRI is necessary to confirm suspicion to some specific lesions. When you have correct diagnosis you must decide for type of treatment are you going perform. If there is only sprain of the shoulder, the treatment is non-operative. For more serious injury like dislocation of the joints or rupture of the tendon operative treatment is necessary.
