Sažetak
Supratrochlear opening was observed on a total of four cave baer (Ursus spelaeus Rosenm. and Heinroth) humerals. Two of these were found in Hijanska špilja near Buje ; one specimen was found in the locality of Cerovačke špilje near Gračac (both in Croatia) ; the fourth was found in the Đurkovina cave (Bosnia and Herzegovina). This opening is characteristic of the Canidae family, but also it appears in the Mustelidae and Hyaenidae families. It has been determined as an atavistic feature, probably dating from the period of separation of the original phylogenetic lines, one developing towards the Canidae, the other towards the Ursidae families.
