Sažetak
The research was conducted on a sample of ninety preschool children aged between 3.5 – 4.5. A group of boys and girls from the preschool institution Potočnica in Zagreb, Croatia were tested. The sample of twenty four variables was divided into two main groups that hypothetically cover the areas of motor knowledge and skills. The goal of this paper was to determine canonical relations between dimensions of motor knowledge and skills. Tests of motor knowledge included tests for the assessment of conquering space, overcoming obstacles, resistance and manipulation of objects. Motor abilities were covered with tests for coordination, speed of simple motions, explosive strength and flexibility. Relationships between the areas of motor knowledge and motor abilities were tested using canonical correlation analysis. Correlation coefficients between the two areas are relatively low or, in other words, their connection is insignificant.
