Sažetak
We are witnesses of imposing products to the buyer containing new values in the area of functions and applications, the use of materials, visual appeal and quality. Furniture has individual characteristics ; the innovative composits or synthetic materials replace used well-known materials such as wood. Thanks to new technologies, human curiosity, the need for innovations and novelties as well as the discovery of new synthetic materials, the final products of non-wooden materials are apparently taking over greater part of the furniture market beyond wood. Pessimistic thoughts about inability to care about the waste that cannot be recycled lead to the conclusion that regardless of the current advantages in the use of synthetic materials, wood as a natural material provides greater value on the issue of sustainable development and healthy environment. The work gives a reference to the contemporary world trends that, in the field of furniture design, very visible placed wood and non-wood as the main materials.
