Sažetak
PTSD often occurs among the general population especially among those people who experienced war trauma. According to Abstracts / Journal of Psychosomatic Research 392 52 (2002) 389– 393 literature and our experience as well, PTSD is often followed by other and with somatic diseases. We expect that the most common somatic diseases are duodenal ulcer, hypertension and various pain syndromes. The aims of this study are: to establish the frequency of somatic disorders in our sample and compare this frequency with one in general population and try to find a correlation between PTSD intensity, psychiatric comorbidity, intensity of symptom groups (according to CAPS) and somatic disorders. Participants: All subjects (N = 100) are male, war veterans, age between 35 and 50 years, with PTSD (CAPS score 65 or higher). Exclusion criteria are the dependence on psychotropic substances, organic mental or psychotic disorders. The State Institute for Chronic Disease provided the control group with data about corresponding population detailing gender, age and education. These data refer to the situation before the war in Croatia. Method: Clinical assessment made by experienced psychiatrist, SCID-I, CAPS and medical history. Results will be analysed with t test and ANOVA.
