Sažetak
The results of this investigation show that deaf children, on the whole, better comprehend simple subject-verb-object (SVO) than object-verb-subject (OVS) sentences. They also perform better in lip-reading SVO than OVS sentences. There was no difference between skilled and poor lip-readers in sentence comprehension tasks, whereas in lip-reading the same sentences, the skilled lip-readers performed better in both types of sentences. Although both skilled and poor lip-readers comprehended better SVO sentences, only the skilled lip-readers lip-read SVO sentences better than OVS ones. Possible explanationes are elaborated.
