Sažetak
Although calix[n]pyrroles are molecules known for more than a century, their ability to bind anions was only recently descovered [1]. That finding fuelled research in that field resulting in a number of new calix[4]pyrroles derivatives that were investigated as potential anion sensors. However, there is still not much known about calixphyrins, the structural intermediates between calixpyrroles and porphyrins, which can bind both anions and cations [2]. Our previous findings that adamantane-dipyrromethanes work as potential anion sensors [3] prompted us to incorporate such building block into calix[4]pyrroles (I) and calixphyrins (II). We have performed synthesis and structural characterization of (I) and (II) [4]. Herein we report on their ability to bind anions in the solid state and in the solution.
