Sažetak
Data obtained in research on the understanding and verbal expression of spacial relations by four-year-old boys with speech development disorders indicate that systematic therapy is essential to the improvement of these abilities. Human body is the primary medium for experiencing and establishing spacial relations and thus the ideal instrument for creating concepts and learning vocabulary related to spacial relations.
The body movement therapy is one of the verbotonal therapeutic procedures practiced at the SUVAG Polyclinic for treating complex langugage and speech disabilities. The treatment includes specific parent counseling, motor skills training and creating situations necessary for the perception, learning and verbal and verbal expression of basic spacial relations. The latter involves simultaneous verbal and non-verbal expressions when experiencing and identifying space. In other words, the context for learning the vocabulary of space includes motor action, spatial constellations and clear verbal expressions.
Awareness of and verbal identification of each individual spatial category is achieved through three stages of spatial learning. The new relations, i.e.new space related words are gradually set in more demanding spatial and linguistic contexts. The emotional charge of each therapeutic situation is a result of the communicational character of body movements. The achieved expression includes a large number of basic qualities of movement (basic effort actions). They will in turn provide appeal and efficiency. The profile of essential spatial and linguistic structures as well as all the stages in the body movement therapy are shown in the diagram of learning the spatial relation "behind".
