Sažetak
We consider the vibrating plate equation
$$ \rho u''+\dv\dv(\tM\nabla\nabla u)=f , $$
with suitable initial and boundary
data. For a flat plate of prescribed geometry, we
wish to determine an optimal distribution of available materials, minimising
a given cost functional. As the optimal solution is not achieved in
the class of simple mixtures, a relaxation based on $H$--convergence of Murat and Tartar is introduced, leading to
homogenised materials. Several examples of cost functionals are considered.
