Sažetak
Feasibility and gain of combining intermediate conversion core of pressurized water reactor, i.e. semitight lattice, and correspondingly increased fuel utilisation with the convenience of open fuel cycle are considered . Global core calculation were performed in order to evaluate possible fuel savings. For unfavourable case saving of at least 10% is possible. Arguments are presented that intermediate spectral shift light water reactor appear to be likely candidate to fulfill both economy and proliferation criteria. The results obtained should be of interest for a number of developing countries likely to consider nuclear option by the turn of century.
