Sažetak
Vital tool for decision making process in port industry development, in the European ports and in the ports of Republic of Croatia, are defined development measures. For the Republic of Croatia the geographical position of seaports which are located near the main European transport routes is of crucial importance. The development of maritime transport, port sector and port industry directly initiate the need to consider the established development strategy in the port sector. Economies of scale in ship and port productivity are the two important factors in the implementation of maritime transport in the supply chain. Also it is expected that the use of road and railway infrastructure will become more expensive over time. In seaports omnipresent today is the diversification of technological processes which represents a means of achieving competitiveness and business excellence in the field of port systems. Crucial moments and parameters for decision making are port legislation, port status, port development strategy and plans, infrastructure capabilities and port’ s technological process diversification.
