Sažetak
Rust fungi (Basidiomycota, Urediniomycetes) are biotrophic plant pathogens, with approximately 8000 species described so far. As obligate phytopathogenic fungi they have developed fascinating mechanisms of host specialisation and life cycle in co-evolution with their plant hosts. During the two-year survey 13 species of the rust fungi were recorded for the first time in Croatia. New records of the rust fungi include: Uromyces cacaliae on Adenostyles alliariae, Puccinia aegopodii on Aegopodium podagraria, Phragmidium fragariae on Potentilla sterilis, Puccinia iridis on Iris croatica, Uromyces erythronii on Erythronium dens-canis, Pileolaria terebinthi on Pistacia terebinthus, Chrysomyxa ledi var. rhododendri on Rhododendron hirsutum, Puccinia lagenophorae on Senecio vulgaris, Puccinia behenis on Silene latifolia, Puccinia vincae on Vinca major, Tranzschelia anemones on Anemone nemorosa, Uromyces ficariae on Ranunculus ficaria and Puccinia adoxae on Adoxa moschatellina. Hyperparasitic fungi Sphaerellopsis filum (teleomorph Eudarluca caricis) and Tuberculina sbrozzii were found on uredinia of Pileolaria terebinthi and telia of Puccinia vincae, respectively. Adenostyles alliariae is recorded a new host for Coelosporium tussilaginis. Species were determined according to morphological characteristics and host-pathogen relationship. Publications of Gäumann (1959), Brandenburger (1985) and Ellis and Ellis (1985) were used for species identification. All recorded species are preserved in the collection as dried herbarium specimens.
