Sažetak
Refugees are a high risk population particularly exposed to stress. In order to prevent pathological reaction to stress, we have started our work with refugees in medium size groups. The work was conducted in three phases. The first one solved the problems of adjustment, and the second was directed toward prevention of serious psychical disorders, which meant working trough traumatic experiences. The third phase, still in progress, prepares the refugees for to their native towns and villages, and for living together of Croats and Serbs. The work with displaced people settled in the Rijeka region was described.It was conducted in three phases, the problem of adjustment, prevention of psychical disorders and preparation to return after finishing the war.In the course of war the programme was addapted to the current situation in Croatia.
