Sažetak
This paper presents some directions to the design of interactive WWW based CAE system that may be useful for the assembly design and concurrent engineering methodology in the mechanical engineering. The object created during the design process is called the design object. Design object may be assembly, sub-assembly or a single part and it is referred by product structure model. Product model used in consideration about system is based on EXPRESS information technology model that is accepted in 1994 as an international standard ISO 10303 STEP. The objective of the presented CAE system is to provide designers tool at the beginning of the design process, the conceptual stage. During the conceptual phase of design process, existing systems that deal with similar problems were considered and the related available literature was thoroughly explored. The conclusions drawn from the analysis were used for specification and the conceptual definition of the proposed designers aid. Research presented in this paper is a part of the ongoing project in development of the integrated CAE system.
