Sažetak
Maurice Ravel was slightly built, short in stature with large head. He was a good swimmer and enjoyed taking long walks. He was a passionate smoker, liked strong coffee, heavy wines and hot spices. During his life, he misused alcohol, especially liquers. Ravel's health was deteriorating during the last few years of his life due to a progressive neurological illness. At the age of 52, in the year of 1927. first clear signs of neurological upset appeared - occasional difficulties in playing the piano, writing and also early symptoms of dysphasia. In the October of 1932, he was involved in a car accident, he suffered a head (facial) and chest injury. We owe to famous French neurologist Dr. Theophile Alajouanine precious clinical - neurological observations of Ravel's disease. Exploratory brain surgery was carried out about 17th December by Professor Clovis Vincent. After the surgery, Ravel sank into a coma and died on 28th December 1937. In this paper, the differential diagnosis is discussed: a systemic, vascular or infectious disease, endocrine chronic disease, brain tumor, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, primary progressive aphasia, corticobasal degeneration, frontotemporal dementia. Pick's complex.
