Sažetak
Study at the university means a great social change in most cases. Adaptation to new conditions can take a different time for each student. Sufficient amount of information about what is going on is the basis of optimal study at the university. On that score, University of Economics in Prague organizes “ Adaptation course” for freshmen already for several years. This course significantly helps in overall orientation at the University. Due to their conception the university studies are quite different from those at a high school. Providing professional information and also the use of other quality information sources (e.g. specialized library, electronic information sources) are the principal roles of the educational process at the university. After the entrance at the university the main burden of responsibility for control of schoolwork rests with students. Nobody controls the university students continuously. Relatively large extent of freedom e.g. some possibility of free choice of subjects is one of basic hallmarks of the study at the university. For this reason it is necessary to know how to find the correct information at the given university. Students can find information concerning subjects and teachers on the school web. However, communication at the university is not conducted electronically only but also verbally, by phone or during personal meetings under some specific rules. Positive adaptation of the university student includes mainly active cooperation in the formation of his future ego, self- improvement and education. This is not possible without a high-quality information and constructive and creative communication.
