Sažetak
A rare species, the angular rough shark Oxynotus centrina (Linnaeus, 1758) was incidentally captured on the long line in the Croatian waters at the eastern coast of Adriatic Sea. It was an adult female weighing 7883 g and reaching 800 mm in total length, and could be considered as the largest angular rough shark recorded to date since maximum lengths provided in the literature are not based on recorded specimen, and are overestimated. Morphometric measurements were carried out and they agree with previous patterns observed in specimens from other Mediterranean area. The female contained 18 developing yellow yolked oocytes, measuring between 24 and 35 mm in diameter, and the uteri were in a resting phase, this confirms that vitellogenesis does not proceed in parallel with gestation and that the species reporduces in alternate year. Hepatosomatic and gonadosomatic indexes reached high values, 35.50 and 4.81 respectively. The stomach examination of the Adriatic angular rough shark did not reveal traces of any lately eaten or even partly digested food, and it suggests that the female was in a non feeding period.
