Sažetak
Aims of Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development - National Study for Croatia are: • To select a set of complementary indicators in the field of tourism through the preparation of the national studies with a view to: • Providing information on the national policies and strategies of tourism development, on the major trends and on their possible consequences ; evaluate the extent of mainstreaming the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development in the national policies ; • Highlighting the progress made since adoption of the Recommendations on “ Tourism and Sustainable Development” (Malta, 1999), as well as analysing the success factors and/or bottlenecks ; and • Identifying best practices in order to contribute in their dissemination in the Mediterranean. The national studies will moreover serve for: • preparing the regional executive report to be presented at the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development meeting scheduled for 2009 and subsequently published in the Mediterranean Action Plan Technical Reports series ; • helping the countries decide on follow-up on national level, taking into consideration the results of the regional workshop and the proposals of the Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development.
