Sažetak
The best source of the European statistical information at present is Statistical office of the European Union – Eurostat, located in Luxembourg. Its uppermost task is to provide the European Union, the Euro-area and the EFTA countries with qualitative statistical data that are comparable between countries and regions according European single methodology. The greatest value of the data collected by the Eurostat is their mutual comparability. Thus, Eurostat collects data from the national statistical institutes and other competent bodies and harmonises them according standardised methodology. Collected data are than processed, analysed and published, most of which are presented in paper publications or put on website. Such standardisation of data is extremely important for tourism industry which was traditionally characterised by variety of methodological approaches in collecting and interpreting data that influences incomparability of national data at international level. Tourism statistics data are grouped in four clusters: capacity and occupancy of collective tourist accommodation, occupancy of tourist accommodation, indicators of tourism demand and employment in tourism sector. Eurostat's website offers free of charge access to nearly all statistical information which are presented in German, France and English language.
