Sažetak
The aim of this study was to examine relationship between strength of social identification and in-group stereotypes among members of two different types of groups – youth groups and national group. Data related to youth groups were collected among adolescents (N=81), while data related to national group were collected among adults (N=348). In both samples, the group identification scale developed by Brown, Condor, Mathews, Wade & Williams (1986) was used to measure social identity, and in-group prototype-based stereotypes were assessed by open-ended measure. Also, respondents rated every ascribed in-group characteristic on three point scale (positive, neutral, and negative). In both samples we analysed relationship between strength of social identification, and number and valence of ascribed in-group stereotypes. Content and types of categories of in-group stereotypes as well as the consensus of in-group stereotypes were also analysed. The results were discussed in terms of social identity theory.
