Sažetak
Diseases of the oral cavity, caries, oral carcinomas, oral manifestations of AIDS, orodental traumas, craniofacial anomalies and all other pathological changes in the mouth have profound impact on the overall health and quality of life. Modern medicine and dentistry have discovered most of the causes and mechanisms of development of the majority of oral diseases, so primary challenge for doctors and scientists is not understanding the disease, but transfer of knowledge and experience of diseases and conditions in the oral cavity in action programs that have prevention and promotion of oral health on a general scale as their goal ; public dentistry is a part of dentistry focused precisely on that.
