Sažetak
The society-related themes that are dealt with in the Victorian novel The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot are being analysed with respect to some widely known facts and conventions of the Victorian society. The results give an insight into several aspects of the realistic world of this 19th century novel, which fully reflects the Victorian era, and also reveals some autobiographical facts, especially in the main female protagonist.
