Sažetak
Brachytherapy techniques can be used in the treatment of many types of tumors. During the last decade, many centers have replaced manual insertion of radioactive sources with remote after loading units using sources that yield low dose, medium dose or high dose rates. In the treatment with radiotherapy, care must be taken of the balance between damage to normal tissue and benefits from tumor cure. Tissue response to radiation increase with dose rate increase, however, the change in response is considerably lower in tumors and early responding normal tissues than in late responding tissues.
