Sažetak
The paper will point at a time error running through literature with regard to the adoption and introduction of the word the Balkans by the first European researchers. Finally, the paper will discuss the problem of giving the name of the Balkan Peninsula to all countries located within that region today on the basis of incorrect geological and geographic conclusion of the European researchers from the beginning of the 19 th century.
