Sažetak
The historic development of anthropometric surveys in Europe and worldwide is described. Many countries periodically repeat and improve anthropometric measurements with the aim of improving the size system. Problems of anthropometric measurements and the system of garment and footwear sizes are described. The conventional method of determining body dimensions and the method of taking body measurements using a 3D body scanner are also described. The need for the development of anthropometric instruments as a valuable contribution to continuous multipoint measurements of subjects is pointed out. A new two-arm anthropometer is described. Besides precision, it is very stabile in measuring a larger number of subjects. The technical solution of a specially designed goniometer for measuring shoulder slope is described. The first national contribution of the anthropometric measurement conducted in the Republic of Croatia is emphasized. It included 30, 866 subjects from birth to older persons (82 years old) divided into 55 age groups in the Croatian counties. Since it is the first anthropometric measurement conducted in such a volume, it indicates the state of our population and enables the harmonization and comparison with the European standards. The paper gives an investigation example of individual size systems for a characteristic article of clothing.
