Sažetak
Abstract: Determining the amount of error in indicated airspeed (IAS) can be of great interest for the pilots of general aviation aircraft. Various methods are available, but the one most commonly used for home built aircraft uses ground speed as an independent source of speed information. Correcting ground speed for wind and density altitude produces the numbers which the airspeed indicator ideally would read. This article describes the specific flight test technique (FTT) as another way to do the traditional ground course FTT for pitot - statics testing found in any flight test handbook. To determine actual groundspeed and true track of the airplane (which are necessary for determining pitot – static errors), GPS is used. Also, a compensation for wind effects is calculated and taken into account. The advantage of this method over the traditional ground course FTT is that it doesn't have to be flown near the ground, thus it can be done at very low speeds as long as the aircraft can be held stable at constant speed, altitude and heading. This method can also be done at higher speeds with accuracy similar to low speed points.
