Sažetak
The paper defines the river regulation and protective structures, pointing out their essential properties - adaptability to the whimsical natural environment, and economy of construction. A description of the Drava river on its way through the Republic of Croatia is given, with explanation of circumstances in which it has been regulated. Through general comments and presentation of the existing structure on the river section discussed, and by mentioning of the engineering-biological approach and of some problems present, some of the scientific and professional issues in this field are raised.
