Sažetak
In this paper it is showed that straw could also be used as building material in Croatia, since less energy and materials consumption, using renewable resources and ecological materials, reducing costs of living as well as social aspects such as promoting quality of living, is promoted by buildings made of straw. There are shown resources of straw, respectively surface and production of wheat in Croatia as well as effects, such as increasing energy efficiency and effect on emission of greenhouse gasses. It is shown that straw has high insulation level, there are shown conductivity tests, coefficient of thermal conductivity, noise protection and fire risks. Straw buildings also provide conditions for health leaving, which is a very important aspect. A special attention was given to static strength of straw as a building material.
