Sažetak
Nondestructive test methods are increasingly applied for the investigation of concrete structures. This increase in the application of NDT methods (defined as testing that causes no structurally significant damage to concrete) is due to a number of factors, such as: technological improvements in hardware and software for data collection and analysis, the economic advantages in assessing large volumes of concrete, ability to perform rapid, comprehensive assessment of existing construction and its repaired parts. This paper presents non-destructive methods for determining reinforcement location and size which is an important factor for assessing the condition of reinforced structures. The methods discussed include covermeters, infrared termography, impact-echo method, ultrasonic-echo method, radar, radiography and direct transmission radiometry. The principle of each method is discussed and the typical instrumentation is described. The testing precedures are summarized and the data analysis methods are explained. This paper also describes a structure response for each method, as well as advantages and disadvantages of the method's application. The main goal of this paper is to give a review of all methods applicable for the purpose of metal detecting and to provide the potential user a guide for interpreting the results of NDT tests.
